How to ease back into fitness without pressure: postpartum

How to ease back into fitness without pressure: postpartum

There’s a lot of noise around “bouncing back” after pregnancy. Timelines, expectations, before-and-afters, and pressure to return to your old routine as quickly as possible. But the truth is, your body has been through something major, and recovery rarely looks linear. Your body had 9 months to change and prepare for labor, so you can’t expect it to reverse those changes in just 1 month.

Returning to movement after pregnancy shouldn’t feel like punishment or pressure. It should feel supportive, grounding, and sustainable. At this stage, fitness is less about intensity and more about reconnecting with your body again.

Start smaller than you think

One of the biggest misconceptions around postpartum fitness is that you need to “get back” to where you were before. In reality, your body is different now — and that’s not a bad thing.

Low-Impact doesn’t mean low-value

Your body is in a season of change. Adding pressure will not create a better outcome. Embrace low-impact training and recognize the value in everything a class can offer - not just physically, but emotionally too. Focus on how movement makes you feel, rather than how quickly you “bounce back.” Let go of that mentality. Your body is not something that needs fixing. There is no pressure, comparison, or urgency.

You are not alone. What you are experiencing is something generations of women have gone through, and it deserves to be acknowledged and spoken about openly.

There is no perfect timeline for returning to fitness. Some people feel ready sooner, while others need more time - and both are completely valid.

A more supportive approach to movement

We believe movement should meet you where you are.

Some days that might look like a full class. Other days it may simply mean slowing down, stretching, breathing, or taking rest seriously.

Postpartum fitness is not about proving something. It’s about rebuilding from a place of care, patience, and respect for everything your body has done.

And that deserves more compassion than pressure.
